Lonavala and Khandala

Lonavala and Khandala are two romantic hill stations tucked away in the
midst of the busy Mumbai-Pune highway, about an hour and half drive from
Pune. Apart from just relaxing and enjoying nature, these two resorts have
plenty to see and do – waterfalls, treks, yoga camps and some interesting caves
to explore. Th Karla and Bhaja Caves date back to the 2nd century BC and are
fie examples of rock temples built during that era.
Wood carvings, Buddhist
representations, massive prayer halls and animal carvings are amongst the
sights to see in these caves. Don’t forget to munch on the Lonavala favourite
- “Chikki” – a sticky candy made of unrefied brown sugar (known as jaggery
in India) and nuts, as well as the chocolate fudge
