The district of Pune is famous for its various ancient temples and Panchaleshwar temple is among one of them. Tambdi Jogeshwari

Tambdi Jogeshwari temple is supposed to be the oldest one in Pune which was formed around the swayambhu idol by , Trimbak Bendre in 1545 A.D. Original temple was small one and surrounded by farms . being the Gram Devata the temple was situated at the border of village Pune.(It was there where it is Today.) Later in 1636 when Shivaji came to Pune to stay , with his mother Jijabai and his mentor Dadoji Konddev, sought the blessings of devi and ploughed the land in front of mandir with Golden plough , signifying the new beginning for Pune. Mandherdevi Kalubai temple is near Wai.The deity here is KaluBai and the fair that is held is famous. Located on a hill 4,650 feet above sea level, One has to climb a narrow path to reach the temple.The temple, some 20 km from Satara,overlooks the picturesque Purandar fort. Devotees attribute miraculous properties to a grove around the shrine. Local lore has it that the temple is more than 400 years old and was built during Shivaji's Maratha rule; no definite date on the construction is available.
