Pu La Deshpande Udyan (Pune-Okayama Friendship Garden)



Pu La Deshpande Udyan or Pune-Okayama Friendship Garden is a garden located on Sinhagad Road in Pune, Maharashtra, India. This road is also called as Narvir Tanaji Malusare Road.

Garden was built in inspiration of 300-year-old Okayama's Koraku-en Garden, so it is also called as Pune-Okayama Friendship Garden.The name Pu La Deshpande Udyan was given by the famous marathi writer Pu La Deshpande.

The Pu La Deshpande Udyan is based on one of the major gardens of Japan " The Korakuen Garden "in Okayama City, Japan. This Garden has a history of 300 proud years. The Pu La Deshpande Udyan is spread over 10 acres representing the culture, Creativity and ideologies of an authentic Japanese Garden. The garden is perfect bridge between the two cities of Okayama and Pune, encouraging cultural, traditional, economical, industrial and friendship ties.known for their elegant naturalism and charm.


The characteristics of the garden are a composition of fire, harmony, warm and cold, line spirit world and water.
